Mediation 101

Mediation is commonly known as assisted negotiations, or as I like to define it as assisted problem solving.  My role as mediator is to be a neutral third party, who assists you in identifying the issues that need to be resolved, and then the three of us work in unison to come up with solutions to those problems.  Those solutions become the basis for agreements.   In Divorce Mediation those agreements become the foundation of the final separation or settlement agreement.  Compared to traditional litigation where each party has their own attorney in Divorce Mediation the couple works with the mediator to come to those agreements, and navigate the divorce process with the goal of an uncontested final divorce hearing.
